Bangladesh needs to bring Xulhaz's killers to justice
It was April 25, 2016 and human rights defender Xulhaz Mannan [pronounced Jhool haz] was in his apartment with a colleague. Suddenly, men wielding machetes burst in and hacked them to death. Despite ample evidence, including CCTV footage and eyewitness testimony, the killers have gotten away with murder.

Hanan Badr el-Din
Egypt
Stop the criminalization of Hanan Badr el-Din for her work to end forced disappearances
When Hanan Badr el-Din’s husband disappeared in July 2013, her life changed. Her search for him led her to become a human rights defender working with others whose loved ones were also taken by the security forces. It also resulted in her arrest on false charges for which she faces five years in prison.
Act Now
- Call on the President of Egypt to drop all charges against Hanan and free her immediately and unconditionally.

Sakris Kupila
Finland
Sakris wants his gender identity to be reflected on his identity documents
Sakris Kupila does not identify as a woman. Yet the 21-year-old medical student must endure daily embarrassment because his identity documents say he is female. To reassign your gender in Finland, you must be diagnosed with a “mental disorder” and be sterilized. Sakris wants to be accepted for who he is without submitting to those requirements. He is demanding a change to the law.
Act Now
- Take action online by calling on the Prime Minister of Finland to change the law and support transgender activists.

Israel
Peaceful Palestinian protesters are facing prison terms in Israel
Participating in a peaceful protest march against Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories was sufficient for the authorities to lay charges against Issa Amro and Farid al-Atrash. The two men are not currently in detention but if a military court finds them guilty, they could face a prison term. Amnesty International believes the charges against the two Palestinian human rights defenders are unfounded.
Act Now
- Write a letter or email Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu and call on him to drop the charges against Issa Amro and Farid al-Atrash

Taner Kilic & the Istanbul 10
Turkey
As part of a crack down on human rights Turkey has falsely charged 11 human rights activists with terrorism related offences.
Right now, 11 people who have dedicated their lives to defending the human rights of journalists, activists and other dissenting voices in Turkey are themselves in danger. Among them are Amnesty International’s Taner Kılıç and İdil Eser. All are on trial for “terrorism” related crimes – an absurd attempt to choke their human rights activism.
Act Now
- Tell Turkey to stop persecuting these human rights defenders and drop the charges against them.
